Prof. Dr. Mira Sonntag is a professor of Asian Christianity in the Department of Christian Studies at Rikkyo University (Tokyo, Japan).
She is currently in Europe conducting research at the Zentralarchiv der Evangelischen Kirche in der Pfalz. Her archival research focuses on the records of the Deutsche Ostasienmission (DOAM) and, in particular, the DOAM’s activities in the German Democratic Republic.
On May 26, 2026, Prof. Sonntag will give a lecture entitled “Asiatische Christentümer in der Zeit des Kalten Krieges als Teil der 'globalen Religionsgeschichte'” as part of the KPH's ‘Forschung hautnah’ series. Further information can be found on the Research & Development page.
